Police investigating attempted child abduction

VIOLA, AR (KAIT) – Arkansas State Police and the Fulton County Sheriff's Office are searching for a man who may have tried to abduct two young girls Thursday.

According to ASP, a heavyset man with reddish hair and facial hair approached two nine-year-old girls playing outside a home on U.S. Highway 62 west of Viola.

When one of the girls ran toward the home, investigators say the man grabbed the second girl by the arm.  She managed to pull away and run.  An adult inside the home heard the girls screaming and came outside.  That's when the man drove away.

The man was driving a blue, mid-90s Toyota pickup with a white or silver stripe at the bottom.  He was last seen driving on Highway 62 toward Mountain Home.

If you have any information that can help investigators contact the Fulton County Sheriff's Office at 870-895-2601 or the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division at 870-741-3455.
