Jonesboro Police investigating Sunday morning armed robbery

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened early Sunday morning, resulting in one man being shot in the back.

According to Lt. Roy Coleman with the Jonesboro Police Department, the incident happened on the 500 block of State Street.  Coleman says two Hispanic males were inside a carport when they were approached by two black males wearing masks or T-shirts over their heads.

Police then say, the two men pulled a gun on the men in the carport and asked for their wallets.  One of the victims, according to police, tried to grab the gun and fight off one of the suspects.  After the failed attempt the victim tried to get away and was then shot in the back by the suspect.

The victim was taken to the MED in Memphis, no word on his condition.  Police are still looking for the two suspects involved.

Jonesboro Police have indicated that the armed robbery is similar to two others that have happened in Jonesboro in the last week.  However, police have not determined if the cases are connected.
