Summer heat causes water problems in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- The scorching hot days of summer are upon us.

With no rain in sight, City Water and Light officials are getting concerned.

Special Projects Administrator Kevan Inboden has a few requests for Jonesboro residents.

"We've asked for residents of even-numbered houses, water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. And odd numbers water on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays."

Inboden says using this technique will help the city conserve its precious resource very wisely.

"We're also asking residents with automatic irrigation system to run it between midnight and six in the morning."

Inboden would like for customers to water their yards during non-peak hours when other water systems are not in use.

"We do strongly suggest for their benefit and utility benefit that they try to water wisely."

Inboden says that this is not mandatory, but a request that would benefit the entire community.
