V3Fights, the premier amateur mixed martial arts circuit in the Mid-South, will pay tribute to fallen Memphis Police Department officer Timothy Warren at its event in the Grand Lobby of FedExForum on July 23 at 8 p.m.
To show appreciation for the bravery and commitment Officer Warren demonstrated throughout his life, V3Fights will donate a portion of the proceeds from each ticket purchased for the July 23 event to the Timothy Warren Memorial Fund, which will help provide care to members of Warren's grieving family, including his wife and two small children.
The local MMA organization will honor the memory of Officer Warren, who lost his life protecting the City of Memphis when he was shot and killed responding to a call at a downtown hotel on July 3, along with fellow members of the Memphis Police Department throughout the evening. Prior to the final bout, a group of officers invited on behalf of V3Fights will be recognized in the Octagon in anticipation of the main event, which features current MPD officer and two-time defending champion Brian "The Law" Hall.
"V3, being a Memphis based company, would like to honor those who fight to protect us every day by entertaining them for a night," said V3Fights Founder Nick Harmeier. "We realize that these heroes have just experienced a tragic loss and hopefully, for one night, we can help them escape the pain that this entire city has felt with the passing of Officer Warren."
In homage to the courageous officer and his brethren on the force, all fighters participating in each of the event's 10 matches will forgo the traditional red and blue tape at the wrist of their gloves and instead adorn them with black tape featuring a blue stripe, remembering the contributions of Officer Warren while also recognizing the efforts made on a daily basis by the Memphis Police Department to ensure the safety of the community.
Tickets for the V3Fights event are available for purchase at all Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com, the FedExForum Box Office or by phone at (800) 745-3000, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Donations can also be made to the Timothy Warren Memorial Fund at any Regions Bank location in Memphis.
