Randolph County Sheriff's Department investigates overnight stabbing

RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The Randolph County Sheriff's Department is investigating an overnight stabbing. It happened just after midnight Friday morning.

Officers with the sheriff's department were dispatched to the Moose Lodge just on the outskirts of Pocahontas.

According to Sheriff Gary Tribble, that's where they found 23 year-old Matthew Swartzlander in the parking lot suffering from multiple stab wounds. Swartzlander was transported to Five Rivers Medical Center and then flown to the Med in Memphis.

Right now, he's in stable condition. Tribble says they do have a person of interest, but with officers still investigating, no more details have been released at this time.

Tribble is asking the community if they have any information about this case, to call the sheriff's department at (870) 892-8888 and ask for either Sheriff Tribble or Detective King.

We will continue to track this story, and let you know of any new developments.
