NORTHEAST ARKANSAS (KAIT) - Generosity thrived across Region 8 Saturday as people donated school supplies to help children prepare for the school year.
This was the 7th year for the event operated by KAIT, United Way, Crowley's Ridge Development Council, and the Jonesboro Radio Group. Volunteers were stationed at Wal-Mart locations across the area to take donations and stuff busses to send to participating schools.
"Our vision is that we are a community of leaders creating a positive environment no longer bound by circumstances," says Joshua McCorckle, Assistant Principal of the Jonesboro Micro society Magnet School. "The circumstances our people come out of are eliminated just by people's generosity and that's what today is really all about."
The results proved McCorkle's point. Stuff the bus raised 21,251 total school supplies and $3,487.44 cents in donations.
All of the school supplies stay right here in Region 8.
Thank You Region 8 for helping us Stuff the Bus!
