JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Citing Congressional budget cuts, the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced Monday it was reducing hours at its Jonesboro office.
Starting Monday, August 15, the office, which is located at 2608 Fair Park Boulevard, will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Currently the office is open until 4 p.m.
According to a press release, the SSA says Congress provided nearly $1 billion less in funding for the fiscal year than President Barack Obama requested. The agency says it is "impossible to provide the amount of overtime needed to handle service to the public as we have in the past."
