Berry Critical of GOP's Prescription Drug Plan

WASHINGTON, DC - Democrat Congressman Marion Berry says the Republican proposal for the Medicare prescription drug plan would benefit mostly the pharmaceutical industry.

He criticized the plan that passed the House, saying it prohibits the Secretary of Health and Human Services from using the buying power of the Medicare population to negotiate lower drug prices.

Berry fought to allow the secretary to negotiate prices directly with pharmaceutical manufacturers under the free-market principles.
