Meteorologist Bryan McCormick is a 24-year-old Arkansas native. He says weather is his calling. Bryan was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. After spending ten years in Olive Branch, Illinois, his family moved to Caraway, Arkansas. Bryan graduated from Riverside High School in 2005 and spent two years at Arkansas Northeastern College, earning a Associate's In Arts degree, before studying meteorology at Mississippi State University. He won second place in a year-long, campus-wide weather forecasting contest. Bryan was an active student-member in the East Mississippi Chapter of the National Weather Association/American Meteorological Society. He graduated from MSU in the Spring of 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Geosciences, also earning a Broadcast Meteorology Certificate.
Bryan is a seasoned storm chaser. Severe weather season is his favorite time of year. He was inspired by the movie "Twister," his favorite of all-time. He has chased across three states and observed two simultaneous waterspouts, countless wall clouds, large hail, several tornadoes (one of which a 3/4 mile-wide EF-3!), and a few funnel clouds. When he's not looking at weather charts and forecast models, he is playing guitar...something he's done for nearly 14 years.
Bryan loves being with family and friends in his spare time. His dad works at Craighead Electric Cooperative. Bryan's mom works as a bookkeeper for a local agribusiness. His sister is a sophomore at Riverside High School. He has a pet shih-tzu which is 12 years old. He also has a very large extended family spread across five states.
