COPY-Kansas City man charged in attacks

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A 23-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in two recent attacks on women along a popular hiking and biking trail.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said in a statement Wednesday that James Kemp is charged with forcible sodomy, kidnapping, armed criminal action and other offenses.

Both attacks occurred along the Trolley Track Trail in Kansas City's Waldo section.

One woman said she was sexually assaulted on the trail June 15. Kemp is also accused of attacking a 20-year-old woman at a car wash near the trail on July 17.

Online court records don't list a lawyer for Kemp, and there is no phone listing under that name in Kansas City. Prosecutors were seeking to hold him on $250,000 cash bond.
