JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Saturday, people in Jonesboro took part in the first annual Community Fest to support John 3:16 Ministries. All the money collected will help support the spiritual boot camp that helps men suffering with addiction right here in Jonesboro, and throughout Region 8.
The fish was frying and dinners were loaded up for the first annual Jonesboro Community Fest. There was plenty of catfish, to-go plates, give-away prizes and don't forget live music.
John 3:16 Ministries has done events like this in the past, but this is the first time for the organization to do it in Jonesboro. The program has help several people in this area. Saturday's event was put on to help support the Craighead County Faith House, the newest facility at their camp grounds.
"We keep 12 men over their at all times. So from taking the men, and Craighead County having ownership over there, now we're coming back here for the fundraiser to not only keep that house, but hopefully expand that house before long," said John 3:16 Ministries Director Bryan Tuggle.
This is one the biggest fundraiser events for the organization. Tuggle says they have 72 residents involved in the program right now, who worked like clock work to get this entire event together. He says their goal is to bring hope to all that attend. "Seeing that these seventy men who were bound on drugs and alcohol can pull something this big off. We will feed over 5,000 people here today, and it's because these seventy men decided to follow Christ," said Tuggle.
Tuggle says the community support has been huge and expects Saturday's event to bring in more than 60 thousand dollars for John 3:16 Ministries.
