UNION CITY, TN (KAIT) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations has canceled a West Tennessee Amber Alert after a suspect wanted for kidnapping several children was arrested.

The Amber Alert issued Monday night, was for 51-year-old Terry Nichols who police say had kidnapped two children, ages three and four.  Authorities said Nichols had also kidnapped his 16-year-old niece and her baby from the Kennett Wal-Mart. Nichols is also the father of the baby.

The kidnappings allegedly happened last Wednesday, but were not reported until Monday.

Tuesday morning, Nichols was arrested after going through a bank drive-through. Employees at the bank recognized Nichols and called police.

Authorities said the children are safe, and Nichols is in custody.

According to a press release, Nichols has previous criminal convictions for child abuse.
