Flags at half staff to honor fallen Missouri soldier

MISSOURI (KAIT) – Today, you'll notice flags flying at half staff at all state buildings in Missouri.

Governor Jay Nixon ordered this move in honor of the service and sacrifice of 19-year-old Specialist Jordan House of Independence.

The Missouri National Guardsman died last week from injuries sustained while on emergency duty service. His awards and decorations include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Missouri Basic Training Service Ribbon, and the Missouri State Emergency Duty Ribbon.

Specialist House was assigned to the Battery D, First Battalion, 129th Field Artillery Regiment and served on several flood missions throughout the state.
