Youth Hunt on White River NWR

(FWS) White River National Wildlife Refuge, the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, and the Arkansas Game & Fish Foundation are proud to announce a special hunt that will be taking place at Cooks Lake during the 2011 hunting season. The following is a list of logistics and deadlines that apply for the hunt. Please read them carefully and if you have any questions contact Marlon Mowdy at 870-282-8249.

Youth Deer Hunt

Dates of this event:       December 3rd –4th, 2011

A special youth only deer hunt will take place on December 3rd and 4th, with a mandatory orientation on November 26th.  Only 10 permits will be issued to youth 15 years of age and under (as of December 3rd, 2011).  Those selected for past hunts will not be selected for this year's hunt, as this is a onetime hunting opportunity. Each selected participant will be required to have an unarmed chaperone 21 years of age or older. If the youth does not have a chaperone, one will be provided. All participants will be required to have completed a hunter education course prior to the hunt. Tree-stands will be provided and installed by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Refuge Staff. Applications must be postmarked by October 15th, 2011.

How to apply for a youth hunt

Please print or type the youth applicant's complete name, hunter education number, and phone number on the back of an Official US postcard. Send the postcard to White River National Wildlife Refuge, c/o Marlon Mowdy, P.O. Box 205, St Charles, AR, 72140.  Applicants may also apply in person at the Visitor Center in Saint Charles.
