LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Little Rock says three more tornadoes have been confirmed in Arkansas this year, bringing the state's total to 72 for 2011.
Meteorologist John Robinson said Friday that the Weather Service's offices in Memphis and Tulsa confirmed two tornadoes that ripped through eastern Arkansas and one that hit the northwest corner of the state back in May.
In eastern Arkansas, the tornadoes hit near Greasy Corner in St. Francis County and Briark in Crittenden County on May 25. Another tornado struck Washington County near Baldwin on May 20.
Robinson says National Weather Service offices have two months after a month ends to compile their weather statistics, plus another year and a half to make additions and corrections.
