CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - An early morning house fire severely damages a structure and leaves a family looking for answers, according to Brookland Fire Chief Steve Beck.
According to Beck, a fire broke out at a mobile home on Craighead County Road 785 shortly after 1:00 Monday morning. Nine minutes after firefighters got the call, they were on scene battle the flames.
Beck said the fire appears to have started in the bedroom area of the mobile home. He said a family of three was able to get out of the home without any injuries. Several volunteer firefighters have been on scene since approximately 1:00 watching the home to make sure there are no flare ups. Craighead Electric shut off power to the structure shortly before 2:30.
According to Beck, 8 trucks with the Brookland and Philadelphia Volunteer Fire Departments were used to fight the fire, and more than 15 firefighters responded to the call.
An investigation into the exact cause of the fire will be conducted, according to Beck.
