FBI releases app to help parents keep children safe

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KAIT) - The Federal Bureau of Investigation released a new application for parents aimed at keeping their kids safe.

The application allows parents to store information about their child, including up-to-date pictures. You can add additional information about your child that can be sent directly to police if your child goes missing.

According to the FBI, a child goes missing every 40 seconds.

Spokesperson for the FBI, Dennis Baker, said by using this app, they hope to get accurate information out faster.

"If a child goes missing you can send that to a police department within minutes of your child going missing," Baker said. "I think that is something that parents can have on their cell phones to have that information handy and get that information to police."

The app is free but it is currently only available for the iPhone. They are working on getting the app onto other mobile devices.
