Marmaduke residents overwhelmingly in favor of sales tax increase

MARMADUKE, AR (KAIT) - Marmaduke city officials proposed a sales tax increase last week and Tuesday night, residents voted in favor of the proposition.

According to Marmaduke Mayor Steve Dickson, 104 people voted in favor of a 1.25% sales tax and only 12 people voted against it.

The sales tax will help the city perform some improvements within the city and to help residents compensate, the city will be reducing the monthly water bill by $3. They will also be taking one mil off of the real estate personal property tax.
