Arkansas soldier among others killed in helicopter crash

GREEN FORREST, AR ( KAIT) – An Arkansas soldier is among the 30 names listed as service members killed in the CH-47 Chinook crash on Aug 6.

According to the  Department of Defense, Special Warfare Operator Senior Chief Petty Officer (SEAL) Thomas A. Ratzlaff, 34, of Green Forrest died in Wardak Province, Afghanistan. Ratzlaff was one of 19 sailors assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit.

In addition to the 19 sailors assigned to the East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit, two sailors assigned to a West Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit, five soldiers, and three airmen assigned to the 24th Special Tactics Squadron were killed.
