ASU Volleyball announces 2011 schedule

Arkansas State Volleyball announced its 2011 schedule on Friday, which includes four non-conference tournaments and eight contests in Jonesboro.

The Red Wolves will open the season Aug. 27-28 when they travel to Birmingham, Ala., to play Samford, Akron and Alabama-Birmingham in the UAB Tournament. ASU will then go to Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 3-4 to play in the Lipscomb Tournament followed by a trip to St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 5 to take on Saint Louis University.

The Red Wolves will be in Springfield, Mo., Sept. 9-10, for the Missouri State Tournament followed by their home opener Sept. 13 against Southeast Missouri State. The squad will wrap up non-conference play Sept. 16-17 in Natchitoches, La., at the Northwestern State Tournament.

Arkansas State will begin Sun Belt Conference play Sept. 23 on the road against Middle Tennessee State followed by a trip to Western Kentucky Sept. 24.

The Red Wolves will begin a five-match home stand against in-state rival Arkansas-Little Rock on Tuesday, Sept. 27, followed by a match against South Alabama Sept. 30. Troy will come to Jonesboro Oct. 1, followed by Denver Oct. 7 and North Texas Oct. 8. All matches in Jonesboro will be played at on the Arkansas State University campus at the HPESS.

ASU will travel to Little Rock, Oct. 14 to take on UALR and will then make a trip to Florida to play Florida International Oct. 21 and Florida Atlantic Oct. 22.

The team will return to Jonesboro Oct. 28 to host Louisiana-Lafayette followed by its final home match of the year against Louisiana-Monroe Oct. 29.
