TRIMBLE, MO (AP) - The Missouri Department of Conservation is looking for the owner of a nearly eight-foot red tail boa constrictor found this week in northwest Missouri.
The St. Joseph News Press reports (http://bit.ly/pm4dzu) that the large snake was found Thursday in a yard in Trimble, north of Kansas City.
Resident Roger Davolt said he trapped the boa with a portable playpen used for toddlers and called the conservation department to take it away.
Scott Stephens, Missouri Department of Conservation agent for Clay County, said he believed the snake was a pet before it was released or escaped. He said conservation agents have quarantined the snake at a pet store in Kansas City, where it will be kept until an owner comes forward.
