911 dispatcher training takes place in Region 8

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Normally the first person you speak with in an emergency situation is a 911 dispatcher, and this week those men and women are training to better serve the public.

For the next three days, dispatchers will be trained to handle the wide variety of calls they receive daily.  Instructor Bradley Vick with the Arkansas Fire Academy in Camden says training will include call taking, being in charge of the call, obtaining key information and everything else that has to do with dispatching.

Only three organizations teach this kind of advanced training and it is the first time it has ever been taught in Arkansas.
