Arkansas Banking Commissioner Visits Jonesboro's Newest Bank

Celebrations were in order this afternoon as new doors opened during the annual shareholders meeting at Liberty Bank in Jonesboro.

Arkansas State Commissioner Bunny Adcock was even on hand for today's event.

((Bunny Adcock/Arkansas State Commissioner: I think this bank is reflecting the economic growth that we've been enjoying in Jonesboro, Craighead County and Northeast Arkansas.))

The new facility, located on Highland street, will also serve as the headquarters for the regional offices of Liberty Bank.

During the meeting, bank officials announced the acquisition of the People's Bank of Paragould.

((Mark P. Fowler/Vice Chairman, Liberty Bank: Banking in Northeast Arkansas is fierce competition, but it's friendly competition... on the economic growth side, we all pull together when we hear of industries coming to town and working together, but we are all fighting for the same customer))

((Heather Flanigan: Bank officials tell me that this bank represents the economic growth for Northeast Arkansas))

((John Freeman/President of Liberty Bank: It's a reflection upon the strong economic stability of this community, with our industrial base, ASU, with our strong medical center there's a lot here to build upon and we are very blessed to have a strong economy.))

Shareholders were able to take a look around the bank's main branch druing the meeting.

The bank features 3 outdoor fountains set to music, custom designed pieces of art and furniture.

((Bunny Adcock: It's a beautiful facility and you in Jonesboro should be very very proud of this.))
