A Southeast Missouri woman wrapped up a big week by taking home a piece of the record $600 million Powerball jackpot.
NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) - The Newport Police Department continue to investigate a stabbing that happened Friday morning around 11:40 a.m.
According to Newport Police, they arrived at 314 Vine Street in Newport where they found 70-year-old James Logan Morgan dead in his home. Morgan had been stabbed multiple times.
Morgan was a noted historian who specialized in the history of Jackson County and Newport. He published several books on the topics. Morgan was also a charter member of the Jackson County Historical Society. From 1964 through 1980, he edited the society's quarterly publication, The Stream of History.
He also was licensed to preach at the St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Newport.
Morgan's body is currently at the Jackson County Coroner's office and will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
At this time, there hasn't been an arrest and the investigation is ongoing.
