Oklahoma State catcher Dane Phillips transferring to Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE (NWAOnline.com) - Dane Phillips, who has started 111 games over the last two seasons as a catcher at Oklahoma State, is transferring to Arkansas.

Phillips (6-foot-1, 192 pounds) will likely have to redshirt next season because of NCAA transfer rules, though he is expected to appeal for immediate eligibility.

The Nacogdoches, Texas native was a standout in the Cape Cod League this summer, batting .349 with four home runs and 34 RBIs for the Chatham Anglers. He was selected to the league's all-star game at Fenway Park in Boston.

As a sophomore at Oklahoma State, Phillips hit .339 with four home runs and 32 RBIs. As a freshman he put up similar numbers, batting .337 with three home runs and 34 RBIs.
