POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT)- St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry was awarded a huge grant Tuesday to improve its building.
The food pantry in Poplar Bluff has been approved for a $292,300 grant, according to an announcement from the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED).
The money will help the pantry with purchasing and updating the existing building to suit its needs. Currently the pantry is located in the basement of an apartment building. The grant was given on behalf of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Sacred Heart Conference under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The CDBG program assists in a variety of public works and economic development projects to Missouri cities with a population under 50,000 and counties with fewer than 200,000.
