WEST MEMPHIS, AR - Police in West Memphis have found the body parts of a woman they believe was struck by a pick-up truck on Interstate 40 in the rain Monday night.

Arkansas State Police Trooper Aundrae Mack says the victim hasn't yet been identified.

Police in Memphis, Tennessee were called late Monday night by a man who said he believed he struck a person on the Arkansas side of the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi River.

Police searched the bridge in the rain Monday night and early Tuesday morning, but didn't find a body.

Tuesday, motorists reported seeing a body part on the interstate, and Memphis police found a leg across from a new weigh station on I-40 in West Memphis, just west of the Mississippi River bridge.

Police don't know why the woman was on foot on the highway.
