POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - Lieutenant Governor Mark Darr made a stop in Pocahontas today to discuss different issues with Arkansans.
He was at the Pocahontas Rotary Club meeting today where he discussed an issue he feels is of the utmost importance, health care.
"The national health care issue, it's going to end up costing, if it goes into effect, the state of Arkansas anywhere from $2,000,000 to $5,000,000 extra a year in taxes and so, that's something that everybody needs to be aware of," Darr said.
Darr also mentioned how he was impressed when he stopped by Walnut Ridge and saw how the town and it's residents are working so hard without government assistance.
"The government doesn't create jobs. Individuals and small businesses do," Darr told Region 8 News. "So it's neat to see Arkansans and small towns and even large towns, actually, not look for a government handout and to actually take that into their own hands."
The Lt. Governor also spoke about small business opportunities around the state.
