Carly Thomas named as academic adviser for ASU Athletic Department

Arkansas State Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee has announced the addition of Carly Thomas as an Academic Adviser for the ASU Athletic Department.

Thomas comes to Arkansas State after working as the Director of Women's Ministry for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Auburn University. While at Auburn she established a ministry presence among women's athletic teams that had previously not existed. In addition she also coordinated and managed spiritual support for over 240 coaches, athletes and support staff for Auburn's 10 women's athletic teams.

Thomas also worked as an Academic Counselor Assistant for the Auburn Athletic Department where she maintained academic records for over 75 student-athletes. In addition she also coordinated with tutors and other learning accommodations when needed as well as working to resolve class schedule conflicts to coordinate with student-athletes' athletic responsibilities.

"We are excited to have Carly join our staff," Associate Director of Athletics for Student Services Stacey Willmott said. "She comes to ASU with a wealth of knowledge and experience from both a counselor/advisor and student-athlete perspective."

Thomas played soccer at Auburn from 2000-2003 where she was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and SEC Soccer Good Works Team. She is a member of the National Board of Certified.

She will be working with the Baseball, Women's & Men's Basketball, and Women's & Men's Track & Field teams.
