Local lady celebrates big birthday

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-A local lady had very special day on Thursday.

It was her one hundred and third birthday.

Pauline Johnson is currently living at the St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Jonesboro.

Friends and family members paid her a visit and brought along some cake and gifts to celebrate.

One of Paulines nephews, Larry Johnson, says his aunt has never strayed to far from home.

"She was born in Cash, Arkansas. Has lived there all her life, never married. Furthest she's ever been from Cash is Memphis, Tennessee in one hundred and three years."

Pauline grew up with two brothers and two sisters who are no longer with us.

Larry says his aunt has always been a fun and pleasant person.

"She has always been considered a sweet lady. She loved to garden, loved flowers and plants. And took care of her own parents when they got older."

Larry says Pauline is an inspiration to their family.

"She's doing just great. She has a little problem hearing and seeing, but when you're one hundred and three I think you're allowed."

Pauline has three nephews and one niece, two who live in town and made it to the party.
