PARAGOULD, AR (CRC) – Crowley's Ridge College has released their full 2011-2012 Men's Basketball schedule which features thirty total games.
There will be thirteen games this season with NAIA opponents, as well as one NCAA Division three opponent, one NCAA Division two opponent and one NCAA Division one opponent. They will also play twice at the FedEx Forum in Memphis in conjunction with the NBA Memphis Grizzlies.
Eight different NAIA opponents will be featured on the Pioneers schedule. Central Christian College, Blue Mountain College, Central Baptist College, Williams Baptist College and St. Louis College of Pharmacy will each face the Pioneers twice this season. Single road games with Oklahoma Christian University, Southwestern College, and Southwestern Christian University will also be featured.
Two NCAA opponents will be on the schedule in road contest in late December. A road game at NCAA Division two Dallas Baptist University will be on December 17. The Pioneers will face NCAA Division three East Texas Baptist in Marshall, Texas on December 19.
For the second year in a row and only the second time in school history Crowley's Ridge College will face a NCAA Division one opponent. They will travel to Houston Baptist University to face the Huskies of the Great West Conference on January 12.
Crowley's Ridge College will have twelve home games this season to go with sixteen away contests plus games with Shepherd Tech College on December 5 and Victory University on February 21 at the FedEx Forum.
"We feel like this is a very tough and competitive schedule," said Pioneers Head Coach Chris Perkins. "Our schedule is a continual year to year upgrade in opponents and we feel this will prepare us for the future of our basketball program. If we want to move up in level of play, our schedule needs to move up as well every year."
"We are excited about playing in a division one environment again this year. Our game last season with Tennessee Tech was a great learning experience and we are sure that will be the case again with Houston Baptist this time around," said Perkins. "Another opportunity to play at the FedEx Forum before a Memphis NBA game is also a great thrill for our players and the fact we get to do it twice is pretty cool."
