COLUMBIA, MO (KAIT) - Officers took thousand of dollars worth of synthetic drugs off the street Monday morning in Columbia, Missouri, and the effects of the raid are felt right here in the Heartland.

Kevin Earl Bay was arrested on an outstanding Stoddard County warrant for distribution of analogue controlled substances.  He is charged with two counts of delivery of an analog controlled substance and six counts of delivering of an imitation controlled substance.

His bond was set at $250,000.

About 100 firearms and a large amount of substances believed to be synthetic cannabinoids were seized. At the request of the DEA, more than $630,000 in cash and a large amount of precious metals were seized by the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

The plan for this raid goes back to July, when the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department seized thousands of dollars worth of synthetic drugs from convenience stores around the county.

The majority of those so called analog drugs were from a company called Bocomo Bay, based in Columbia.

Stoddard County Prosecutor Russ Oliver says analog drugs have been illegal in Missouri since the 1970s, and the goal of Monday's raid was to provide more evidence to support charges against Bocomo of distribution of analog drugs.

Oliver says despite the enactment of the new synthetic drug law on Sunday, the seizure is warranted because the evidence will be used for a case before it became law.
