PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – A fiber optic line cut in Greene County is now repaired, say Paragould Police. The cut cable not only affected outer communications for Paragould residents, but also affected residents in Clay County and Marmaduke.
According to Manager of Marketing Development for Century Link Jeff Jones, a City of Paragould crew accidentally cut the fiber optic line at 9:30 Wednesday morning knocking out vital communication tools such as landlines, cable, cell phone service and internet service.
Paragould Police said the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management was able to get in contact with AT&T to set up an emergency 911 back up through Jonesboro while the problems was being fixed.
Several banks in Paragould closed their lobbies offering drive-thru only services until the problem was solved.
