NEWPORT, AR - Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department have arrested a 33-year-old Possum Grape man in connection with the Tuesday night stabbing death of his older brother.

At approximately 5:58 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff's deputies received two 911 calls directing them to a residence on Jackson County Road #307 in the Possum Grape community, where a man had reportedly been stabbed in the leg.

Deputies and paramedics responded to the residence, where they found 35-year-old Orlando Curtis suffering from multiple stab wounds.  Curtis was taken by ambulence to Newport's Harris Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities arrested Shannon Curtis in connection with the death.  He was formally arraigned this afternoon in a Newport courtroom on charges of first degree murder, and is being held at the Jackson County Detention Center.  Meanwhile, the body of Orlando Curtis has been sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
