From Harding University
The Harding football team's offensive line received national recognition Thursday after paving the way for the Bisons to set program records by rushing for 515 yards and seven touchdowns in its season opener against Southern Arkansas.
Harding's offensive line was named Division II National Offensive Line of the Week by the website BeyondSportsNetwork.com.
Harding's starting offensive line included sophomore left tackle Jeremiah Vivio, senior left guard Garrett Taylor, redshirt freshman center David Lee, senior right guard Caleb Simmons and junior right tackle Tory Day. The Bisons played all 12 offensive linemen that made the trip to Magnolia, and Harding had five different players score rushing touchdowns.
Harding had seven rushes of 20 yards or more in the game and four different players rushed for more than 70 yards.
Also honored by BeyondSportsNetwork.com was senior punter/kicker Eddy Carmona, who set a school record by going 9-for-9 on extra points, landed all four of his punts inside the 20-yard line, and executed a successful on-side kick following Harding's first touchdown.
