JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Whether you are an Arkansas State University Red Wolves fan or a University of Memphis Tigers fan, there was plenty of fun to be had Saturday on the ASU campus.
The atmosphere was electric in the early afternoon as many tailgaters gathered at around 10 in the morning to begin their day of nothing but watching football, eating good food, and spending time with friends and family, "All of my family tailgates, this is our rush week, so we are out here hanging out and having a good time," said Jarrett Tedder.
It didn't seem to matter what your team loyalty was, people were more than happy to have a blue tent parked next to their red tent. Many traveled from Memphis to enjoy the weather and great football game to come. There were also plenty of families and children out in the crowd, "All of our family comes out to support the team," said Tabitha Edwards, "The kids come out and have a great time."
Many of those out Saturday agreed that the amount of tailgaters has increased over the past five years or so, "We started out three years ago and now we are up to about 30 people," said Tedder." Some attribute the growing interest in the new look Red Wolves and hype around the new head coach, "Coach Freeze, I think the hype around him had a lot to do with it but at the same time, we played a lot better last year as team," said Lane Holmes.
