Approximately 200 runners were on hand at the ASU running track Tuesday evening as the 10th annual "Boyer Mile" fitness program got underway. The four-week training program is designed to promote fitness in the community while also serving as a conditioning program for the ASU women's basketball team.
Those attending Tuesday's first session were treated to music and a brief introduction of players and staff by ASU head women's basketball coach Brian Boyer.
The "Boyer Mile" will continue over the next three weeks (weather permitting) and will wrap up with a post-run party Oct. 3. Each week, the "Boyer Mile" will be run on Tuesday evenings, with the exception of the final week, which will be held on a Monday.
Any ASU fan who is not a high school athlete (grades 9-12) is invited to join Boyer and the Red Wolves women's basketball team to participate in the remaining three weeks of the program. While the Red Wolves will be running a timed mile, anyone wishing to run or walk may join the team.
Each participant will receive a t-shirt and be treated to the post-mile party Oct 3. There is no cost to participate in the program.
