BLOOMFIELD, MO (AP) - A 20-year-old Dexter man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for attacking a southeast Missouri police officer.

The Dexter Daily Statesman reports that Austin Mace was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to the Sept. 12 attack.

Dexter officer Kevin Moore was hospitalized with a facial fracture and lacerations after being punched by Mace as Moore tried to break up a fight between Mace and his father.

Mace's father, Terry Mace, was also arrested on an assault charge. He has pleaded not guilty and remains jailed awaiting trial.
