JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A grand opening on Friday at Arkansas State will also open up opportunities for students interested in science related fields.
The Commercial Innovation Center is a 9,000 square feet facility that will be housing labs for research and technology of various areas.
The facility is a construction project inside of an existing structure, the Arkansas Biosciences Institute. Brian Rogers is the director of the center and said the goal is to help enhance the research of the institute and provide students interested in science related careers with chances to work side by side with its tenants. "There are opportunities for internships and for students to use our projects for business planning competitions," said Rogers.
Rogers called the new resource an "ecosystem" and added that for the students who will benefit for this, it is centered around one thing, "To be employees, that's the bottom line is for more students to ultimately be employees in this field," he said, "Have a masters in molecular studies or an MBA."
The institute is celebrating its 10th year in service.
