White County Authorities Investigate Discovery of Human Remains

December 8, 2003 - Posted at 2:41 p.m. CDT

SEARCY, AR - State medical examiners have determined that human remains found in a rural location in White County on November 20 are those of a 26-year-old El Paso man.

The bones were discovered in a field near 1455 Ridge Road by a man who was mowing the property.  Detectives arrived at the scene and notified officials with the Criminal Justice Institute, who quickly determined the bones to be human remains.  The remains were then collected and taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to be examined by the Medical Examiner and a forensic odontologist.

Yesterday, crime lab officials confirmed via phone that the bones were the remains of Anthony Shane Sledge.  The matter is currently sill under investigation by the White County Sheriff's Department.
