Morning Snow in Region 8

December 10, 2003 - Posted at 7:50 a.m. CDT

JONESBORO, AR - Sporadic snow is falling this morning across much of Region 8, and flurries have reached south into the state's central region.  Light sleet has also been reported in some northeast Arkansas counties.

A snow advisory is in effect through noon for several counties in northern Arkansas, with about an inch expected to fall in some places.

Moisture left from the rain that fell yesterday and last night met with a cold front moving from the west to cause the snow.  Meteorologist Emilie Nipper of the National Weather Service in North Little Rock says the weather will clear this afternoon.  But, another system is on the way and could bring more snow to northern Arkansas by this weekend.

Today, a wind advisory is in place for much of the state.
