LITTLE ROCK, AR - A state representative says he'll retool his plan that would protect 26 rural school districts from consolidation.
Representative Travis Boyd of Piggott is pushing a plan that would keep the districts from being consolidated under Governor Huckabee's proposal that would reduce the number of school districts.
After questioning today in the House Education Committee, Boyd agreed to pull back the bill and rework it. As introduced, the bill would have declared the 26 districts as isolated and would have allowed them to continue untouched.
Legislators began meeting Monday in a special session.
