Following her performance in Arkansas State's victories over South Alabama and Troy this past weekend, A-State senior Cayla Fielder has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Against South Alabama she had 22 kills and a 5.50 kills per set average as the Red Wolves moved to 4-1 in conference and are now 8-2 in their last 10 matches.
In five conference matches the Jonesboro, Ark., native has 81 kills and a .486 attacking percentage, both of which lead the Sun Belt. She also leads the conference with a .371 attacking percentage in all matches this season. For her career Fielder has 1,238 kills and needs just 28 more to move into a tie for eighth place on the all-time ASU career kills list.
The ASU volleyball team will conclude its five-match home stand Oct. 7-8 with matches against Denver and North Texas. Both matches will start at 7 p.m. and will be played at the HPESS Facility.
