ATU Wonder Boys finish tied for fifth place at Texoma Golf Championship

Arkansas Tech Men's Golf concluded its third tournament of the season here on Tuesday by firing a 924 to finish in a tie for fifth place with Southeastern Oklahoma State in the 12-team Texoma Championship held at the Chickasaw Pointe Golf Resort.

The Wonder Boys opened play on Monday, firing scores of 313 and 297, before carding a final round 314 on Tuesday.

Tech finished two strokes back of fourth-place Southwestern Oklahoma (922) and 10 strokes in front of Cameron's JV squad (934) that finished in seventh place. Oklahoma Christian University fired an 876 to finish atop the team standings, while Cameron shot a 906 to finish in second place and Southern Nazarene carded a 913 to finish in third place overall.

Leading the way for the Wonder Boys was junior Graham Rucker (Hot Springs, Ark.), who fired a 225 to finish tied for seventh place. Rucker shot a 77 in the first round, a 69 in the second round and concluded the tournament by firing a 79 in the final round.

Oklahoma Christian's Vilhelm Bogstrand shot a four-under par 212 (69, 71, 72) to take home individual medalist honors. Bogstrand's teammates, Jared Consoli shot a one-over par 217 (74, 72, 71) to finish in second place and Alasdair Dalgliesh shot a 220 (76, 72, 72) to finish third. Dalgliesh was playing as an individual.

In addition to Rucker, sophomore Jack Garrett (Fouke, Ark.) shot a 54-hole total of 227 (74, 74, 79) to finish tied for 12th place, while sophomore Slade Hames (Rogers, Ark.) fired a 237 (83, 78, 76) to finish in 35th place. Junior Parker Hale (Benton, Ark.) carded a two-day total of 238 (80, 76, 82) to finish tied for 36th place and freshman Jason Purdy (Farmington, Ark.) fired a 249 (82, 87, 80) to finish tied for 55th place.

The Wonder Boys will return to action Oct. 17-18 for the TVA Credit Union Classic at the Turtle Point Country Club in Killen, Ala. The TVA Credit Union Classic will mark the Wonder Boys final tournament of the fall campaign.
