CARAWAY, ARKANSAS (KAIT) --The Craighead County Sheriff's Department is looking for information on the attempted arson at the closed Riverside Junior High School in Caraway.
According to Sheriff's investigator Justin Rolland a school official arriving early at the school noticed smoke coming from what appeared to be a broken window.
The Caraway Police Department called on the Sheriff's office for assistance in investigating the fire. Rolland says the perpetrators broke a window and used advertising flyers and some kind of flammable liquid to set a chair on fire. The room that the fire was set in was small with a closed door so the fire basically burned itself out without causing any serious damage.
Rolland says that they were able to gather quite a bit of evidence including some DNA evidence. Some material will be examined at the lab in Jonesboro, some will be sent to the state crime lab in Little Rock.
If you have any information you can call the Caraway Police Department at 482-3434 or the Craighead County Sheriff's Office at 933-4551.
