KENNETT, MO - Funeral services will be today for former state Representative Larry Thomason, a ten-year veteran of the Missouri House.
Thomason represented parts of four southeast Missouri counties in the Statehouse from 1988 to 1998.
He died Thursday following a heart attack during minor surgery. The Kennett Democrat was 55.
Thomason's district included most of Dunklin County, and parts of Stoddard, Butler and New Madrid counties. In 1998, he opted not to run for re-election so he could move to a higher-paying job to send his daughter to college.
At one point, Thomason rose as high as Majority Whip for the Democratic Party.
Thomason's accomplishments included changing workers' compensation laws to reduce coverage rates and choosing a new design for state license plates.
