WASHINGTON, DC - Arkansas' First District Congressman Marion Berry and U.S. Senator Mark Pryor have each released statements regarding the capture of ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein by U.S. forces outside Tikrit.

"The capture of Saddam Hussein is excellent news for the people of Iraq and a testament to our troops serving in their land.  With Saddam captured, I am hopeful a new spirit of international cooperation can begin in Iraq.  I am further encouraged by today's announcement as it brings us closer to the goal of Iraqi self-rule and to bringing our brave men and women in the military home to their families and loved ones," said Berry.

Meanwhile, Pryor said, "The capture of Saddam Hussein is wonderful news for the global community, but no more so than for the people of Iraq, who for too long suffered under his brutal dictatorship.  Our men and women in uniform deserve the utmost gratitude and recognition for their hard work, especially the 4th Infantry Division and the Special Operations Forces that carried out this mission."
