Valley View fall fest benefits Joplin schools

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A day of fun in the sun for Valley View School District will help benefit some of the destroyed schools in Joplin, Missouri.

The district hosted its annual fall festival on Saturday at the Blazer campus. The fest is the school's biggest social fundraiser of the year.

The event provided a wide variety of activities for people of all ages including bouncing houses, basketball, music, and more. The main focus of the fest is to raise money to improve the quality of the school and to help other schools in need.

"A special thing we are doing this year is donating a percentage of our proceeds to the schools that were demolished in Joplin, Missouri," said Shelly Anderson, PTA President.

The remainder of the funds remaining will be used to purchase library books, playground equipment, and items to improve the schools technology programs.

Thanksgiving is a time to be with loved ones and enjoy good food, but since that is not an option for everyone, members of the Jonesboro community came together to make sure as many people as possible were fed.
