Jonesboro teen killed in car accident, two others injured

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - According to Jonesboro Police, Zachary Banter, 18, of Jonesboro was killed in a two vehicle accident on Woodsprings Road earlier Sunday.

According to a media release, Banter was driving north on Woodsprings Road when his vehicle entered the southbound lane. Police state his vehicle hit a white Toyota Rav-4 approximately 330 feet north of Casey Springs Road.

According to the report, Banter's vehicle came to rest in the southbound lane of traffic. The second vehicle, driven by Jackie Sparkman, came to rest off the west side of the road. Banter was pronounced dead at the scene by Criaghead County Coroner Milton Harbison.

The report states Jackie Sparkman was extricated from his vehicle by the Jonesboro Fire Department before being transported by helicopter to The MED in Memphis. His condition is unknown at this time. Sparkman's passenger, Emma Sparkman, was transported to St. Bernard's Medical Center by Medic One.

It is unknown if any of the victims were wearing seat belts at the time of this report.
