Students at Walnut Ridge Elementary soaring to new heights

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - Kids at Walnut Ridge Elementary school soared to new heights on Saturday morning.

A hot air balloon ride was part of an incentive for selling cookie dough and other items to help beautify their school and complete an outdoor classroom.

Walnut Ridge PTO President Jenny Andrews said the reward had actually been scheduled several times but do to mother nature, had been rescheduled. But good news, Saturdays weather was perfect for a balloon ride.

About five students at a time had the chance to hop in a basket and ride in the balloon for about five minutes.

Andrews said incentives like Saturday's and fundraisers can literally take students to a whole new level, "They take more ownership," said Andrews, "They help build or create something, and take pride in something."
